Edda Dell’Orso - Dream Within A Dream: The Incredible Voice of CD (El Records)
If you’ve ever seen one of Ennio Morricone’s spaghetti Westerns, you’ve heard Edda sing. She’s the girl with the eerie tones suggestive of a Star Trek babe mated with a theremin, ululating nonsense syllable exotica over mad, Eurojazz arrangements. She is breezy and playful, hysterical, orgasmic, psychedelic, and strangely soulful. Taken out of their visual context, these compositions are perhaps even stranger than they were intended to be—which is saying something. Elevator music for zero-gravity environments.
