Impressive live/studio garage revival reissue from the incestuous early eighties Swedish scene (the Back Door Men shared a singer with the Creeps). Strongly influenced by the Chocolate Watchband and the harder-edged west coast folk-rock sounds, the Back Door Men’s originals are fine additions to the genre, and there’s something ineffably charming about the slight Swedish lilt applied to American garage conventions. “Never Take A Chance” is an odd one—sounding like they were aiming for a surfier style, it’s closer to Echo and the Bunnymen. Hmm.
